If you receive a traffic ticket in the city of Los Angeles or other Los Angeles County city, you will pay your fine to the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. This may include tickets from a wide variety of law enforcement agencies, including local city police, California Highway Patrol, Metropolitan Transit Authority, LA County Sheriff, Airport Police and more. In most cases, you will have the option to simply pay the ticket without going to court (unless you want to fight the ticket). You can pay in the following ways:
- Online: The easiest way to pay is to go here and look up your ticket by your driver’s license number and make your payment online. (Unfortunately it could take 30 days after the ticket is issued for it to show up online.) You can also pay using your ticket number, which is more complicated for some reason. (En Español)
- By Phone: On your ticket will be listed an LA County Courthouse specific to your ticket. (This is the courthouse you go to if you decide to fight your ticket in person.) To pay by phone, locate that courthouse on this page and then click through and look for the “General Courthouse Directory” link on the right-hand side of the courthouse page. When you click on the “General Courthouse Directory” link, you will find a phone number (all the way at the bottom) for “Traffic Telephone Payments.”
- In Person: Go to the courthouse listed on your ticket and pay face-to-face.
- By Mail: The ticket itself is made to be used as an envelope for sending in payment, the mailing address is printed on the ticket.
